"Lilith"

The story of "Lilith"

Lilith was Adam’s first wife and was removed from the garden of Eden for being, shall we say, to aggressive and feisty, this painting was an ode to Lilith. She was painted in 2007 and sold soon after to a beautiful yet abused woman living in a prison of fear and control. Soon after the painting went to live with her, she called me and told me through tears that her husband had ripped “Lilith” off the wall and taken her upstairs and locked her away in a closet. My heart was broken for her plight.

The other night my grandson who works at the “Good Will” sent me a photo of a painting that he found at his Good Will...it was “Lilith”. I bought her back the next day for $30. She is with me again for some unknown reason and she is finally safe. What are the chances? Behold the Mystery!

"Bye"

"Bye", painted by Darlene Graeser from Unconscious on Canvas in May 2013 depicts an intriguing moment in a woman's life. Where is she going? Why is she going?  What is she leaving behind and what is she thinking?  Her eyes depict complex emotions, the rain drops on the car window underscore the sadness. It is one of the most commented upon images in the collection.
